Battery and Dome Light Fuse Problems

#1
Hello guys my name's Alex and I just bought a 2000 corolla.
But I didn't know it was draining the battery.
It dies fast, as soon as I turn it off It struggles to crank on.
It didn't do that when we test drove it.
Also my radio, clock and dome are not working.
I read that they all run of the same fuse which was blown
So I inserted a new one and blows immediately.

The car is equiped with a automatic light sensor
which I believe is draining the battery because
the headlights are always on thanks to THAT sensor.
It also has DRLs I removed the drl relay and the lights are still on.
I removed the fuses for both headlights and they are still on.
I'm thinking the auto light sensor I causing problems.

Are these three problems related?
If anyone has any idea or suggestions....
The car is all stock.
Does any one know where I can find a dyi thread
on how to disable drl and auto light sensor?

I haven't taken it to auto zone to check the battery yet.

Yes, a short can drain a battery dead. So can a light or any electrical device that is staying on after you turn off the ignition. A complete battery/alternator/starter test can reveal a battery drain and how much of a drain it is. Look for trunk lights or any light, radio or what have you that is staying on after you shut off the ignition.

In the meantime, to save the battery from going dead, you can disconnect the positive terminal and set it to the side until you need to restart the car, then just reconnect it. A pain, yes, but less of a pain than having a dead battery.:)

If the headlights are still on despite removing the relays and fuses, that is not the daylight sensor, that is "I'm a complete jackass and I'm going to re-wire the car because I don't know how to properly fix the problem"

They bypassed safety devices and the fuse blowing over and over again suggests that they did not know what they were doing.

This is why you always get an inspection done when buying a used car unless you know what to look for.

Take it to Toyota. This is a fire waiting to happen.

I took the battery to charge and it was dead as it'll ever get.
I bought a new one and now works like a charm.
About the drl/light sensor/Headlights,
There are 2 different sets of fuses for left and right head lights. It also has a DRL relay and Fuse. I do have a feeling that the cars headlights are hooked up somewere else.

I apologize if my writing is all over the place
I'm on my phone.

Did you get the alternator and starter checked to make sure they are working properly?
Not yet.

Right now I'm driving it to see it the battery drains
and seems to be holding the charge.
Today at 6am started fine and it was 20 degrees.

When I put the heat ON the lights dimmed a little bit (noticieable)
I had my Windows closed and pushed the button up and it
dimmed the lights again. But I've had cars that were like that
and ran fine for years.

I will check the alternator either today or tomorrow
