I need a spare set of keys because I only have one key for my car. I have done some online research so I know a little about what it entails to get a copy made for my car. I have a 2011 Corolla LE that does not have the "smart key" system. It does, however, have the key with the buttons for trunk release, unlock, panic alarm, etc., located on the key. I would like to make a copy of the key, and found several on ebay for a good price that don't have the buttons on the key. They might be considered the "valet" keys. The keys do have a "g" on them like my key has. I figured I would have the dealer or locksmith cut and program them. My question is this:
Do I have to have the key with buttons on them, or could I get away with these (possibly valet keys) as spare keys? Will they at least unlock the car and trunk, as well as start the car?
Any input would be appreciated.
