Why headlights come on when I lock/unlock the car

Why headlights come on when I lock/unlock the car? i have been looking everywhere to see if i can deactivate this but so far nothing, i read somewhere that it cannot be done. If anyone knows how to stop the lights from turning on when i lock the car it would really make me happy. On the radio all i can do is to set the time they are on (radio is not on car anymore, aftermarket was installed). I am thinking on unplugging the high beams so they don't come on and only the lows would do so, it would annoy me less i guess.

Like the turn signal flashing? My headlights don't turn on when I unlock. Do you leave your headlights on in your car, or do you have automatic ones? Try turning them to the off position.

I have then on the off position, they come on, Lows/Highs when i lock/unlock. They turn off after a few seconds. If i lock the car using the lock button inside on the door they won't come on, but if i lock/unlock with the remote key they will

I suggest your fusion both your thread to get better answers, since they are on the same subject : behavior of the car when you lock/unlock it.
In your "sound" thread, you mention the horn coming on instead of the "beep" on other Corollas.
In this "visual" thread, you mention the headlights coming on (I assume not permanently) instead of the parking lights on other Corollas.
Disconnecting the high beams, rendering them unusable if you ever need them on the road seems way over the top to avoid a flash of light, and is probably illegal in the first place.
So it's either:
a) The normal behavior for the 2016 L (I don't know about that) and you'll have to live with it as it's the basic model with not much personalization options.
or
b) The system was modified in some way with a dealer installed alarm or when you installed your aftermarket radio unit.

The lights has always come on since day one, even with the factory radio, the sound when locking/unlocking the door as well. The lights come on and stay on for about 20 seconds, then they turn off. They don't just flash like the parking lights which only flash. I will call the dealer to see what they say, I bet they will want to charge me something to change this somehow, if it can be done. Thank you for your replay

I believe the options can only be set through the factory radio, unless the idatalink Maestro Rr has been installed.
However, your stealership should be able to adjust the options with their proprietary software.
