No More New Car Smell

#3
Wonder if they make a cologne called New Car Smell? I thought about maybe suggesting "Chocolate" to the cologne marketing depts. so the ladies would swoon over an ol' phart. Then i thought "Bacon" might do the trick too. Nothing like that new car smell!!

I believe Masterson's sells trim or leather cleaner and conditioner that makes your car smell like new again. There's also Chemical Guys new car smell air freshener. LOL! Unfortunately, nothing will remove cigarette smell.

Well, good thing i dont smoke! I've read and saw some reviews on the new car smell from Chemical Guys. Although it's a pleasant scent, it doesn't really match the, "new car emall" that is so illusive. I haven't read up much on Masterson's. I think im gonna simply start adding my favorite scents in the car shortly now. Anyone have any experience with all the different "air purifiers/filters" out there?

I've never used the CG air freshener. LOL! But I do use both Masterson's Tire & Trim as well as Chemical Guys Leather Cleaner/Conditioner. Both products have that industrial smell that makes your car smell like new.

That's weird as my 2017 Corolla iM is now a year old and when I get in it I can still smell the new car smell in it.
Well I was exaggerating a bit. Although the New Car smell has definitely lessened substantially, to my nose...those who ride with me for the first time do say that they still pick up the new car smell. I typically drive with the window down also. Unless it's triple digits, which it has been in my part of SoCal this past month.

Our normal high is around 80F in July and August. We normally average 12 days of 90+F temps for the entire summer. Just this month of July though we have had 16 days of temps 90F or higher. I hate this heat so A/C is my best friend! Luckily our high this Thursday is supposed to be around 70F, perfect in my book!

Must be nice! How does that feel? I Dont think last night dropped below 80 for us here, lol! It has been cooler this week for us though, anywhere from 95 to 105, depending on where in the area we are.

Today was closer to normal at 85F. Still a little warm for my blood as or normal high is 80F. Tomorrow is now supposed to be around 70F which is a perfect summer temp to me. Good sleeping temps at night in the 50's and the windows open.

Ever since i read this post about two weeks ago, (beginning of August) i've noticed the rear doors area still has a stronger new car smell than the front. Definitely not as strong as the day i bought it but it's still there after a year.

Mothers VLR has that new car smell, to me anyways. But it’s vinyl, leather, rubber cleaner and not air freshener.
If all else fails, drug store cologne is annoying enough that it'll cover whatever bad odors are in the car. Jovan Musk Oil, Hai Karate, Old Spice, English Leather...all the stuff that never made it big enough to demand a high price per bottle.

I vacuum my car out and use the cheap leather cleaner/conditioner from walmart(think it was lexol) and then use armor all ultra shine protectant. I try to keep it clean every other month or so. I’ve done a lot of construction and blacksmithing in the past so I’m not always the cleanest when I drive. So far I’ve still got the new car smell with a 2014 Corolla S with less than 50k miles on it.
