Strange stereo display

#1
Hey everyone, new guy here. Have a strange stereo display issue with my 2010 Corolla. Every once in a while it will have this wierd display icons shown in the photo. When this happens it can't be controlled by the head unit but can be controlled by the buttons on the steering wheel. Anyone else ever encounter this issue? Attach62796_20190327_105918.jpg

I haven't experienced this but it may be a software glitch. When this happens, have you felt the headunit and does it feel hot which could signify it's overheated?

I thought the same thing at first but it's not hot. I can park the car and go into a store and come out 10 minutes later and it's gone and won't come back for a week. I thought it may be an issue with the antenna signal but it still plays radio stations while doing this. I think I finally found a forum from a long time ago saying it's a glitch with the face of the stereo unit. Some people have had the dealership replace their stereo unit 5+ times with no luck and the only thing that fixed it was an aftermarket stereo... So I may call the dealer and see if there is a warranty/recall. If not I'll try an aftermarket stereo.

This is a common issue with the cheap stereo. It happens when it is very hot or very cold. Does not happen all the time. Maybe once a year, 2 or 5 years.

Heat and cold issue. I had that go on me exactly like that. if you turn it off it can simply reset. and sometimes it needed to coll. but all in all it still worked, just annoying at given times but nothing to worry bout if asked.

Does it go away if you put pressure on the screen?
no it will go away if you
A) LET IT COOL DOWN
B) turn it off and back on.
If you press on the display not much will happen. Mine like said Heat activated the issue on a freezing day . I also believe on a Hot Summer day this happ'd I do not owrry about it anymore as I know it is not a issue.

I have a 2009 Toyota Corolla Sports and I've had the same issue from time to time I just tap on it and to eventually comes back but it's not overheated or anyting it just does that. Try turning it on and off does sometimes works for me

For me mine was on a Winter day heat going strong, cellphone maybe redirecting the air flow causing the radio to mualfunction, also on a 70 degree day Sun glaring down on the car parked all day. From what I remembered.
