2009 Corolla 1.8 CE / Many Things stopped working suddenly

#1
Hello Friends,

I need some expert help before I go to dealership.
In my 2009 Corolla 1.8 CE, many things stopped working suddenly.

I was trying to fix my after market backup camera and it seems I messed up with the wiring.
I found that below things are not working:
1) Backup light
2) Directional Lights (both R and L)
3) Fan, Air conditioning

Inspite of that I drive the car to work and while coming back below functionalities stopped working:
1) Suddenly my odometer stopped working
2) Power steering gone
3) Power windows were not working
4) Wipers stopped working

I found that my battery was totally drain and alternator was not able to charge the battery.
With the replacement battery, only head lights are working but other things are not.

I would really appreciate your expert comments.

Thanks,
M

It seems you shorted out a few components. The fuses must have blown so I'd check that first. Also, what wires were you messing with and have you tried undoing the wiring that you messed with?

I was trying to fix the backup camera and for that I was taking the power from the backup light of left side. There was one red wire which I was connecting to the camera’s red wire and another was black for earth. I am sure that I did something wrong and after that backup power gone. Previously I was able to see the backup light on when I kept my car on reversed gear. Yes, I undo that.

I found that one of the fuse "ECU-IG NO. 2" of 10 AMP blew. I used the SPARE fuse of 10 AMP from the fuse-box(Under the hood) and it resolved the problem. Everything is working normal now, but I noticed that now my car had "Rough Idle". Car shakes little bit while on stop.

That's good that you solved the problem. The rough idle can be remedied by resetting the car's computer. You can do that by removing the negative wire on the battery for 10-15 minutes then reconnecting it. You'll get a rough idle for a bit but that's the computer relearning the idle.
