LE ECO valvomatic reliability?

#1
Hello,
I'm just about to get my second car and I am set on a 2015-2016 Corolla LE or LE ECO. Love the better fuel economy from the eco however I am concerned that Toyota's valvomatic system is less less reliable. Anybody know if there is any difference reliability? Advice? Opinions?

Have one since October 2013 (65K). There was a service campaign for a firmware update of the Valvematic, like for the CVT. Never encounter a problem, most trouble free car I've ever owned. Theorically, the EPA rating difference is 2 mpg for the base LE Eco (less, if it's a LE Eco plus or premium, because of bigger wheels) but, as we say, mileage will vary so see if it worth it for you. Personally I found the Valvematic is particulary brillant on highway (50+ easy).

Thanks for your input!
Yeah I go to college in a different town that is a 20min freeway drive away so the fuel economy is worth it. From what I have been hearing, the eco easily exceeds the epa rating on the highway.

Yes... Though it's possible with many models, it all goes with the way one drives (conditions, habits). Since I have the car, I average 39.5 mpg (hand calculated). As I said in my case it's easily 50+ on highway (record 60 in a 2 hrs ride, perfect condition). Speed limit being 60 where I live, which definitely help and I favor gradual acceleration and, if possible, deceleration .
