Buying. What to look out for?

We bought our 2010 Corolla used from Hertz car sales with 30,000 miles on it and it has been perfect so far. I do have a slight slip / skip feeling sometimes when the automatic transmission shifts from 1st to 2nd. Usually when I have to let off the throttle in while in first gear and then push...

LASFIT LED Upgrade For Headlight & Front Turn Signal - Before & After Pictures Plus Review

Hi, yes, the instruction manual said that the two LEDs on the sides needed to be pointed to the left and right rather than up and down to achieve the correct "beam spread". I'll update this thread if we ever have any problems with the bulbs.

LASFIT LED Upgrade For Headlight & Front Turn Signal - Before & After Pictures Plus Review

Well, I couldn't resist also getting the brake, rear turn signal and reverse light bulbs. Wow, they are crazy bright! My wife loves how the reverse lights really get noticed when backing up in a crowded parking garage with maniacs zipping around the corners.

LASFIT LED Upgrade For Headlight & Front Turn Signal - Before & After Pictures Plus Review

Hi, apparently the bulbs are engineered to not hyper flash. I think it said "no hyper flashing" on the product details page. The front turn signals work perfectly. I do lose the "parking" dim light feature of the old incandescent dual filament bulbs but the regular front side marker bulb also...

LASFIT LED Upgrade For Headlight & Front Turn Signal - Before & After Pictures Plus Review

Hey everyone, My wife had mentioned that the low beam and front turn signal light bulbs in our 2010 Corolla were looking a bit dim. I'm pretty sure that they are the original "OEM" bulbs so I did some research and I didn't realize that halogen bulbs can get a bit dimmer as they age. I knew that...

    Can I service myself?

Yes, working on a Corolla and most any Toyota for that matter, is very straight forward and relatively easy. We had a 2005 Corolla (same generation as your 2004) for about 10 years. I did all of the maintenance myself. I have a list of the guides on this page -...

    2017 transmission fluid change

Hi, I would just do a quick and easy drain and refill. Don't be tricked into doing an expensive "flush" at a dealership or quick lube place. I believe your 2017 has the same 2ZR-FE 1.8L I4 engine as in my 2010 Corolla. I did a DIY write up for the procedure on my travel blog -...

    Hyundai Kona

That's great that you got the gift cards. I wasn't so lucky. I registered and printed out the $50 gift card form. I visited a large Hyundai dealership that was on my way to an errand one day. They told me they were "not a participating dealership". So I drove a few miles out of my way to...

    My corolla 2003 won't start

Hi Ben, is there any corrosion (white or blue powder) on the terminals or the battery cables? I had the same problem with our 2005 Corolla. It ended up being a corroded battery cable and terminal. I had to disconnect the battery (negative first, then positive), cut off the corroded part of...

How Many Miles Do You Have?

I wonder how many of us have that 100K miles picture. :) I remember I was driving our 2005 across Alligator Alley (between Naples and Weston Florida) when it hit 100,000 miles. We would have kept that car but we shipped it to Hawaii when we lived there for a bit and it made more sense to...

    OEM Plugs

Iridium plugs are always pre-gapped from the factory. You can check them with a spark plug gap gauge tool. If the plugs don't have the correct gap, they may have been damaged in shipping. I would return them for new ones. Don't try to re-gap iridium plugs.

    Bleed Nipple Size?

On most cars they are usually 8mm or 10mm. Our 2005 Corolla had 8mm brake fluid bleeder valves. Make sure you start at the wheel furthest from the master cylinder and then work your way towards the front driver side.
