What year, engine, etc? What have you checked already, beyond verifying that there is gas in the tank? Does it have spark? Does it smell like gas if you keep cranking it? Have you listened to the fuel injectors to determine that they're working?

Update: It's a 1.8L.

Hi all, Later today I'm going to be picking up my Corolla -- a 1995. I don't know yet if it has the 1.6L or 1.8L engine. It has a 5 speed manual. The PO is getting rid of it because it failed smog for NOx here in CA. My first inclination is an EGR issue and/or carbon buildup in the cylinders...
