My 2014 S with 2017 SE front swap

Nice job. I would never have the ambition to start a project like this. I'd get lost on the electrical since I'm so electron challenged I can't change a light bulb

    CVT swap with 4sp Auto

That is good. I hope these CVTs work out for long term owners. Mine had what felt like a slipping in reverse at about 2k mileage, but it passed. Maybe just the belt seating. I still wish I had a clutch or a conventional auto.

    CVT swap with 4sp Auto

Did yours die or are you making the swap for a stronger unit? In prior posts you were considering some modifications for extra power. How did that go?

Coolant in oil not a head gasket

Do a compression check, and go from there. Could be a warped cylinder (s) , or like Chris said cracked block or head. New head gasket may have be installed wrong and torqued out of sequence.

    Crank Position Sensor Resistance Range

Youssef Did you find the problem with the stalling? how many miles and what year is it? When does it stall, at low speed, highway speed, coming to a stop, or while you are idling at a stop? Did you also clean the Camshaft Sensor? Have you checked the fuel pump pressure? After it stalls does...

    Crank Position Sensor Resistance Range

If the throttle body isn't the problem, and it obvious that gasoline supply isn't. The only other thing it can be is electrical. Somewhere in the system a wire is cracked but making contact, and he degree of contact determines how much power it is delivering. In older models it wasn't...

    Crank Position Sensor Resistance Range

Youssef I was a Nissan Guy until the bottom of my Sentra rusted out in 6 years, so my experience with Toyota is limited and will be since mine is a 2017 and will be the dealers problem. A Nissan also had a Camshaft Sensor and the two must be in sinc for proper engine function. The two are...

How an Automatic Transmission Works - full teardown

Did you do a rebuild or just get a remanufactured unit? How many miles were on the teardown tranny

    Crank Position Sensor Resistance Range

What is the engine doing? normal range is 200 to 300. Some say 500 but I find that hard to believe. Also check the line and cap going into the sensor prongs. A lot of time engine heat makes them brittle and they won't properly relay. Are they clean? A hot sensor will cause stalling. I...

Hello, I'm Steve and I just bid on a Corolla at an estate auction. What is it?

Hey rose62. I just saw your 1975 barn find go on ebay. At least I think it was yours. I hope you made out on it and sold it to someone who wants to restore it. If it wasn't yours it went for $900.00

    Resale value

With the few used cars I have purchased over the years what impresses me the most, and only two people provided them, were orderly maintence records. Oil changes, tranny flush, brake jobs tell a lot of how well it was cared for. Also, a personal log of wash and wax, tire rotation, and...

Hello, I'm Steve and I just bid on a Corolla at an estate auction. What is it?

Thanks OldGuy, but my knowledge is very limited on Toyota products. This one sticks out because my older brother owned one and I remember what he paid for it because our Dad kept riding him about paying that much for a Toy Car. Compared to American cars the Japanese cars weren't that cheap...

    How Automotive Safety Glass Works

speedkar9 Great job and I learned something. I didn't think that windshields were still laminated but were now tempered safety glass. The theory was that in a collision the windshield would shatter and continue to move forward over the hood away from the front seat passengers. Is the...

    Would You Buy Another Toyota?

I don't know. I trade every three years and I don't believe in brand loyalty because you miss out on new experience and dealers take you for a ride at trade-in time. There are a lot of nicer cars out there, let's see what the next generation look and drives like. I hope the CVT is gone in '19...

    How Automotive Safety Glass Works

The tempered glass in the side windows is designed to save you from drowning if your car ever goes into the water. If you drive into the water you can't open the doors because of the pressure difference, and you may not be able to open the power windows if they shorted out because of the water...

Maintenance costs on an old Corolla

Most of the people who keep their cars for a long time can only do so economically if they learn how to do things for themselves. $3300 for struts and control arms? You could have done this yourself for a lot less. Years ago I needed mine changed so I bought a floor jack and a spring...
