1998 Corolla 180 GLE AT Performance Upgrade

Hi

I came across a 1998 Corolla 180 gle at with 52000km on the clock and full service history up to 90000km due to services by year and not milage.

My question is what can I do to get more midrange power on it? Any useful performance upgrade info would be appreciated.

First, check for high oil consumption with the engine by revving it several times very quickly and seeing if there is blue smoke coming out the tailpipe creating a cloud of blue smoke behind the car. This will indicate an high oil consumption problem.

There is no smoke at all after doing that all is 100 had it at toyota service center

You revved the engine to 3,000+ rpm, then back, then rev it again, etc? That's unusual for people to do, unless they are aware of the oil consumption issues that can occur with this engine.

Oil consumption, not oil. That generation of Corolla is well known for excessive oil consumption, especially when the engine goes over 100,000 miles -

Thank you I did not now that. Is there any thing I can do about it before the time comes as I just checked I do not see blue smoke at all when following your instructions

To help combat this problem, use only better performing synthetic oils like AMSOIL, Red Line or Mobil 1.
