1999 corolla fuel tank reservoir internal orientation

#1
I had a used tank put on my chevy prizm, which is actually a Toyota corolla, in most ways. I'm not sure about the fuel system though and I'm wondering if anyone out there has seen inside a corolla or prizm fuel tank and knows which way the internal reservoir is positioned. Front to back or side to side. In any case my fuel gauge does not now read correctly and the installer put the sending unit and pump assembly in the tank at an odd angle so the tank could read empty, only 7 of 8 screws lined up to fasten the sending unit. otherwise it would only drop to a quarter full on the gauge but would really be out of gas. The way it is, the gauge only reads three quarter full when full, and the low fuel lamp never comes on anymore when nearly empty. The sending unit and the low-fuel sensor are good and so is the lamp and gauge. Sorry for the long-winded post but I didn't know how I could explain it in a shorter way.
Thanks,
Phil
