2005 Corolla XRS

#1
We are the original owners of this Corolla, unless you want to count Brent Brown’s son (Large UT Toyota Dealership) who put the first 10,000 miles on. It felt like an eternity waiting for this model to finally come out. This car has never had smokers or pets inside. One of the best things we did when we first bought it was to purchase factory Toyota Corolla heavy-duty rubber floor mats that kept the carpeted mats and floors in great condition. This body is the 9th generation Corolla that won the Car of the Year award.

Now onto the fun stuff:
Lotus chose the Toyota Corolla XRS motor and its 6 speed manual transmission to run in their Exige and Elise sports cars. The 1.8 liter 4 cyl DOHC with VVTL-i (variable valve timing with lift intelligence) was designed by Yamaha using the engine Code 2ZZ-GE. It has 40 more horsepower than all the other models.

From Wikipedia:
A sporty XRS model, introduced for 2005 & 2006 only, featured the high-revving 170 hp 2ZZ-GE engine and 6-speed manual from the Toyota Celica GT-S and Lotus Elise. The 2ZZ-GE motor was actually developed with collaboration from Yamaha motors. The XRS was very similar to its Corolla S cousin, but the 2ZZ-GE and other structural changes set it apart. Notable features include the X-Brace, which increases structural rigidity in the rear. The XRS also featured a sport-tuned suspension including sport-tuned struts, springs and stabilizer bars, and sport strut tower brace. It also has special seats with more aggressive bolsters and a blacked out instrument cluster.

For safety:
The XRS is the first Corolla to ever offer front AND rear disc brakes making it a safer drive for you and your family. Having disc brakes also makes replacement much easier. It offers 4-wheel Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) with Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD). The XRS model features a total of 8 air bags.

Also only available to the XRS was the introduction to the lower profile 16” wheels that comes with locking lug nuts. It has a factory 6-disc in-dash CD player with 6 premium speakers. A full sliding factory sunroof with sunshade and factory rear spoiler. They started a tire pressure system and security system on this one too.

New windshield, accessory belt, battery, tires last replaced 7 months ago. Darker, yet legal tint helping to protect the interior was installed a few years ago. This motor has no timing belt to worry about. Instead it utilizes a timing chain that doesn’t require replacement.
