I have a question on what type of gasoline to use. Is it recommended to use the lower octane, or the higher 93 octane?
I have read the manual and the manual says if you're car has the 1zz engine, to use the lower octane. If you have the 2zz to use 91 or higher octane.

I just don't know how to tell if my car has the 1zz engine or the 2zz engine. Can someone help? I know the 8th digit on the VIN is not an 'R'.

I just want to be double, triple sure, thanks!

The eighth digit of the VIN number, from left to right, will tell you which engine you have.

COROLLA

1.8L 4-cyl Engine Code [R] 1ZZ-FE

1.8L 4-cyl Engine Code 2ZZ-GE

If in doubt, call a Toyota dealers Parts Department, provide them the VIN number of your vehicle and they can verify it for you.
