I have a check engine light on. All the code readers I’ve had plugged in say it’s some sort of torque converter code. After I took it to a mechanic, their response was it was just a dirty valve and it was fine to drive as long as I wanted. The other option was to open up the trans and do more diagnostics. I opted to just drive it.
However now, I live in Texas and in order to get my car registered in this state I need to pass an inspection. A check engine light is an automatic fail. Is there something I can do to clear the code and still pass the inspection? Or maybe a fix for the issue causing the code?
