2010 Carolla S - Running Warmer Than Usual

#1
Normal operating temp is indicated somewhere between 1/4 & 1/2 way marks. As of approx 3days ago, I noticed temp rising. It rose to right above half and now just stays there. Almost as if this is the "new" normal operating temp. Does anyone know if Toyota linked out side temp sensor to multi position thermostat switch? I don't feel like taking thermostat out and replacing just to find out that the car is supposed to do that in colder weather for purpose of making cabin temp warmer quicker. It has been colder than normal lately.

No, at least in my '10 Corolla the temp gauge gets to just below the middle and stays there. It sounds like your engine is running hot. To see just how hot you'd need to get a Scan Gauge (or the like) which plugs into your OBD port and can tell you real-time coolant temps (among a myriad of other things) first step would be to check and make sure your radiator is clear and that the electric fan is working as it should.
