2015 Corolla - Engine Sound on the Highway

I recently traded in my 2004 Corolla for a 2015 model. I'm still getting adjusted to the whistles, bells, etc. One thing is I find that when I accelerate on the highway the engine sounds kind of "throaty"; like a small motorcycle. On the street when I don't need to punch it, the engine sounds fine.. My 2004 never did this. Is this normal for the 2015's?

I imagine its normal. There is probably a difference in the exhaust tuning between the 04 and the 15 models. Which model and type of transmission do you have?

That's normal.

2004 used a 1ZZ-FE while the 2009+ use a 2ZR-FE

All engines get louder when you punch it because there is more fuel getting burned in the cylinder.
