Cruise control not available when transmission is in manual shift mode - 2020 models

#1
I am taking possession of our new 2020 Corolla SE this week. I am aware of this "issue by design" and almost decided to not buy the car because of it. My 2017 does not have this issue. I use manual mode a lot, because in Automatic mode, the 2017 was screaming going downhills too much, trying to keep the car at the speed set by cruise. (And, paddle shifting is just good fun.)

But now, Toyota, in their infinite wisdom, has decided that once a person switches to manual shifting mode, cruise is unavailable. Really?? They say it is because when a person is in manual shifting mode, they probably are changing speeds frequently. Maybe, and maybe not. But, don't take away the option! I paid for a car with Cruise control. Allow me to decide when I want it or don't want it.
