Good or Bad Experiences Getting Toyota to Fix Something Under Warranty?

#1
a few months ago my catalytic converter needed to be replaced. (around $800). Since i had bought the car used just last summer i had it fixed w/out checking with toyota. Scott here on the forum kindly suggested i check with toyota. I did, and there is an 8 yr warranty on the catalytic converter. So, after sending a bunch of info in, i am waiting to hear from toyota as to whether or not they will cover the repairs.

I am keeping my fingers crossed, yet i wouldnt be surprised if toyota tried to weasel out of it by saying something like 'you had an outside repair man fix it, therefore we will not cover it.' If that is the case, ill never buy a toyota again

anyone had good or bad experiences with similar situations? thx

A warranty is a warranty and they can try anything they like, however as a consumer you have rights that can't just be taken away at a whim. If you do have any issues, I recommend you open your phone book and look up your state's Office of Consumer Affairs and they will go to bat for you at no charge. Don't take, "No", for an answer.

I hope this helps you out.
