How does a fuel pump work?

I look apart a fuel pump to see what is inside and how it works. I made a video on the process:

Fuel pump is stored inside the gas tank:



Removed from the vehicle, it is an assembly consisting of the sender unit, motor/pump, filter, pressure regulator and empty tank sensor:



A look at how the system works as a hole:



There’s a sock on the bottom that acts as a filter to the motor:





On the bottom is this little valve that controls the pressure by allowing excess fuel to go back to the tank:



A closer look at the printed circuit board where the float picks up the resistance readings for the fuel gauge:
