Keyless remote entry only works when transmitter is some centimeters away from receiver

#1
At first when the keyless entry remote control of my 07 Toyota corolla stopped working, I thought the problem was from the battery. The battery was changed yet I could not open or lock the doors with it, the panic button was also not working. Upon research on the net I got to know that the door control receiver could be the cause and was hidden at pillar-C at the right side of the car. I removed the panel and lo and behold it was there. When I use the transmitter very close (i.e some centimeters away ) to the receiver all the three buttons ; lock, unlock and panic, work fine. But when I move the transmitter just about one foot away from the receiver, nothing works. I can't understand where the problem is coming from? Is it the door control receiver which is bad or is there a problem with the circuit relay? Please I urgently need your contribution to help me overcome this stressful problem.
