I have 2005 corolla bought as used car. During a routine oil change, the dealership mechanic mentioned the car might had an accident and must have undergone some body work around motor mount/transmission mount.
The mount bolt seems to be welded. What I couldnot understand is that the mechanic mentioned that the entire transmission needs to be changed (4.5K) to fix this. I do not have any transmission issues and the car runs very smoothly. He mentioned this is a safety issue. could this be true.
If it a transmission mount or engine mount can one of it be replaced. Any help from experts is appreciated.
