I brought my daughter's 2005 Corolla (manual transmission) to the shop for what I thought it needed: a front wheel bearing replacement.
Instead, the mechanic told me that we need a output shaft bearing on the transaxle. He thought it might be wiser to replace the entire transmission, which he estimated at $1500-1700 (he does not provide this service).
Does this sound right? I'm curious if there are any other options? Thank you!
