My valve cover gasket was leaking a little so I just changed it. The old gasket was dry and hard so it was time. I bought this car with about 125k miles and it now has about 175k miles. Sine we bought it we noticed an almost rattling or sounded like a loose heat shield. I had the tires replaced when we bought it and again about 6 months ago and asked the guys what they thought is was and they didn't know but having the valve cover off I noticed a bit of play in the timing chain. I'm not sure if there should be any play or how much is allowed but this may explain the rattling sound in the engine. I think the play is causing valve noise. In park there is no rattle. I would attach pictures of the amount of play if I could figure out how to do it in this forum.
