Rims/Tire suggestions for 2017 Corolla S

#1
I "upgraded" from a 2010 Corolla S (5MT)to a 2017 Corolla SE (6MT) last summer. The 2017 has the 17 inch rims with low-profile sidewalls (forget the tire size, 245/something/R17).

Well, given the number of potholes up here in the city, I have popped *4* -- yes *4* tires this year hitting various potholes in traffic. It has become quite annoying, actually. I never had this problem with my 2010, and I've hit my share of potholes over the years in it.

So, question for the group: can I take a set of tires from a 2017 Corolla (non-SE) which I think are P195/65SR15's and put them on the car without messing up the speedometer/mileage calibration, etc? I also believe 16 inch rims are available as well, but cannot find specs for those.

I cannot remember what I had on my 2010 and the paperwork is long gone.

Any benefits of 15 vs 16?

Or, am I locked in to these 17 inch rims with the low-profile tires?

I have to do something, I'm spending a fortune on tires not to mention putting on a donut in the middle of the night in the rain really sucks a$$.

Thanks, Vin
