Shock Conversion From Struts

Hello,I have a 1999 corolla which has 472,300 miles. I replaced struts around 4 years ago. My struts are already wearing out and I need new ones which is very expensive. Is there a way to convert from struts to shocks and do myself as i am not really comfortable with struts.
I appreciate the advice Scott.

The cost to do such a conversion would run into the thousands of dollars as the entire suspension would have to be changed.
