Top RPM Problem

when i first take off in my 2004 corolla it wont get over 3000 rpms. i was wondering if their is a safety feature to prevent the car from throttling above a certain amount until it gets to a certain temperature. just curious

After your car takes off, what altitude does it cruise at? :D:laughing::)

Seriously, does this change after the engine is warmed up, or not? If it changes, I'd say your suggestion is valid.

You shouldn't be pushing a cold engine, ever (emergency aside). Engines have slight blow-by when they are cold because of the way pistons are machined, and pushing it can fry the rings early.

There is no safety other than redline. If the engine isn't getting above 3000 rpms, it could be a problem with the engine or the transmission. Any smoke or weird noises?
