Which Winter Tires Should I Look Into?

#1
Winter's coming, and I live in NC at 2134' above sea level. It gets cold, icy, and snows inconsistently once in a while. I'm thinking about winter tires that would have better traction on ice and snow.

I've never had switched tires on winter before, so I'm not sure which ones would be best.

Any input is appreciated.

How much snow or ice? Being as you are in NC, I would assume that ice is the major issue. Go to the Tire Rack and check out tires. If you have the funds, buy a set of four. If you want to save yourself time and money in the long run, buy a set of four with steel wheels already mounted and balanced. Again, the Tire Rack is an excellent source. Consumer Reports rates the Michelin X-ice as No.1 and No.2.
