    Stereo Upgrade

It is and isn't that great a system ... http://forums.themustangsource.com/f803/kenwood-double-din-dash-kit-524857/ You can't necessarily tell all about it from that forum thread, but ... So far, it only works with the really high-end radios. If I am going to install a $700 Pioneer...

    Intake and Exhaust Upgrade Debate

Let's talk theory vs. real world. In theory (and law) you are correct - they have to prove it to deny the warranty claim. Now - in the real world - it depends a bit on the manufacturer, but if you go to the dealer with a nitrous bottle plumbed into the fuel system and a hole in the piston...

    Intake and Exhaust Upgrade Debate

Correct - provided the modification didn't cause the failure ... (But now try to argue with Toyota that the piston developed a hole burnt through it b/c of bad metallurgy and not b/c of the NOS kit you were running.)

    Intake and Exhaust Upgrade Debate

If you have access to the software (or if you don't) it's more a matter of the trade-offs ... i.e. - you could add a Nitrous system and get more power - but you probably void the 60K powertrain warranty, and the OEM won't want to sell the car that way. You could add a turbo and get more power...

    Aftermarket Trunk Spoiler

I'm going to go agree with Scott on this. Rear spoilers could increase downforce on the tail over 80 MPH, but on most street cars, they are just for looks. Personally, I like the wing of the previous generations over the lip on the current model, but ... I wouldn't expect it to help or hurt...

    Intake and Exhaust Upgrade Debate

I don't think your data is accurate, I think intake and exhaust probably each increase both HP and fuel economy - but you would see more benefit if you could re-tune the ECM for the increase capacity - which I don't think you can do on a Toyota engine. That said - I tend to like Flowmaster...

    High Speed Wobbling?

My 2002 Focus is an automatic. I don't mean to say it is perfect (VSS failed at 125K miles ($25 part), plastic thermostat housing always has minor leaks), but so far it continues to be a good car for me - at least.

    Stereo Upgrade

http://www.toyotanation.com/forum/377-11th-generation-2014/693081-anyone-upgrade-factory-stereo.html#post7310137 Probably, but nothing major - you might not be able to set the lights to go off after 7.5 seconds instead of 15 seconds, but ... If you set them before you removed the radio...

    High Speed Wobbling?

I'll most likely get steel wheels with hubcaps and not need to worry about it (not that I worry about it much now). My alternator died (again) a few weeks ago - no warning, no idiot lights, car just started stumbling and then wouldn't start. There are very few cars with more than 100K miles...

    High Speed Wobbling?

http://www.1010tires.com/about/Wheel-Tech - also says first time only. I'm really not trying to be argumentative, just your reply and this thread are the only time I've seen it recommended after first installation: http://www.dslreports.com/forum/r23692715-Retorque-aluminum-wheels - and that...

    High Speed Wobbling?

It can't hurt to re-check it, but ... http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/tech/techpage.jsp?techid=107& When installing new wheels you should re-torque the wheel lugs after driving the first 50 to 100 miles in case the clamping loads have changed following the initial installation. This is...

    High Speed Wobbling?

I agree, it can't hurt to re-torque them, but I have a 2002 Ford Focus with the original alloy wheels and I've NEVER had a shop tell me I should come back for a re-torque and never had a wheel-off (except almost one time when they barely even hand-tightened them, but that's a different story).
  13. TigerHeli

    High Speed Wobbling?

Not quite correct. When NEW aluminum wheels are FIRST installed, they need to be retorqued within 50 or 100 miles. After that is done, they just need to be torqued once each time they are re-installed, but they don't need to be retorqued again. IOW - I have a 2002 Ford Focus with factory...

    Stereo Upgrade

Very cool. For anyone new to the thread (like I was). Metra now has a dash kit for the Corolla. The same harness works as for most Toyota's from 1987-up (but not for the Rear View Camera). For the SWC, the ASWC-1 should work fine. For the camera - other than the harness mentioned in this...

    High Speed Wobbling?

http://www.toyotanation.com/forum/324-10th-gen-corolla-2nd-gen-matrix-suspension-brakes-wheel-forum/323137-what-torque-lug-nut.html Some mis-information in that thread, though. The spec torque is only 75-80 foot-lbs, but I'm not sure 100 foot-pounds would stretch the studs or cause issues...

    LED Turn Signal Issue

I don't know about Toyota, but keep in mind that a LOT of cars (Ford, Dodge, Kia) store the mileage in the instrument cluster. If you car has 5K miles on it and the new cluster has 8K mile, you can just wait three months to do the permanent install, but if the new cluster has 5K miles and your...

Taillights look WAY different to me, but I don't know that the trunk dimensions would be different.

    Aftermarket Trunk Spoiler

ALL USA "cars" come with a 3rd brake light - not just Corollas. That is an advantage to the spoiler, IMHO. The 3rd brake light is at the base of the window. A spoiler without the brake light would block the view of the OEM 3rd brake light HMSL (high-mount stop light). Personally - I...
