Never owned a Corolla nor a Toyota, kinda excited, buying a 98 VE 5 Speed today, it has 350k miles on it, but I'm trading a '96 Monte Carlo for it that hardly runs and his runs great and just did a ton of work to it, it's his daily driver, I'm kinda nervous about it though. My Monte Carlo was good but then it started to be more than what it's worth to put the money into it. Do you think this is a smart trade? If yes or no, explain! Please and thank you!

Depending on how the other owner was with the Corolla?
Toyota will last 4ever. I driving in a AE86 with the engine Fup and still would take us everywhere. Like I said depending on how the other driver was with the car, with poor maintanice on the car, do that person look like he would RAG"show off" on the car as well.
Only he would know truly what's wrong!
Now also you keep saying that the other car was not working, messing up that it make you get a different car.
Think of it like you did an upgrade? Are you happen with the deal?
Feel more comfy in your car?
If it's yes then it was a good trade!!!!!
