suspension clunk

#1
After tugging on anything I could reach on my 01 Corrolla without finding the noise, I had the struts replaced. $560 wasted. Finally, I looked at the sway bar links and one end of one was rusty. Hm, says I, that should not be. A new link ($27 at NAPA) and an hour and a half on the floor and the problem is fixed. Two things to think about. The replacement has no wrench flats on the stud so you need a set of vise-grips narrow enuf to grip the stud without tearing the boot. Also jack the car up to get both fronts off the floor. If only one is up, the sway bar will try really hard to level things out and it's stronger than you are.
