But illegal here.

5% is illegal in all states. I have 3% and haven't had an issue. I have even got pulled over for speeding and they didn't say anything

Way illegal to have a tinted windshield, not to mention if you are ever in an accident they can nail it on you for having on the front.

Neither your tint nor your licence plate cover is legal here...lol...but I aint mad at ya. IMO there comes a level of tint that is too much. For me, it would impair night driving to a degree. Looking for street signs, building addresses and the sort. Each their own.
