I have a 2009 Matrix -- base -- with the 1.8. Automatic. Car has 105,000 miles. Oil changes done religiously at 5000 miles ( conventional ) at dealership. I top off using about a quart between changes. Other than brakes, tires, and filters I have none nothing. I'm having new plugs -- drain, flush, refill -- done in a couple weeks and wonder; has anyone had the valve lap checked. I know it calls for this, and I've read so much conflicting stuff on line, I'm not sure. i just don't trust these dealer mechanics ruminging around in my engine. The cars runs flawless, and is quiet with that Toyota 4 busy sound. No valve train noise. What would you do?
