2ZR-FE Turbo Kit

Ripoff.

$20k would be reasonable to ask for, $25k for a supercharged '14 is insanity. He thinks the car didn't depreciate in two years.
This was my initial thought as well. Car has low miles if I remember the ad correctly, but still. Seems a bit high to me, especially considering that fact that I only paid 19,403 for my 2016 S plus new.

It technically is the only one in the world other than the ones in toyota/s secret lab lol so i guess he feels thats how much he deserves for achieving this. i personally would not pay that much though unless it was a 6-speed manual

So, I contacted turbokits.com for information whether or not their turbo kit for the 2ZR-FE engine with CVT transmission would it. They informed me that they haven't tested the fitment for it. They did however offer me $300 off IF I bought the kit and reported performance and fitment issues if any. Thoughts?
I've read somewhere that the CVT belt on 11th gen corolla is in fact steel, not rubber.

You are right the belt is a steel alloy whatever that means but they don't say what it's exactly made of. The Corolla has been turbocharged and supercharged with the cvt trans so it is not as weak as many feared it to be.

Hey Everyone,

I am new to the forum! I have a 2015 S with a CVT all I have done is a exhaust and injen intake. Looking to get more HP out of it, I have read a bunch of other forums talking about the same things CVT limits with turbo or supercharger. I one of these posts there was a comment about since its a economy car the CVT is tuned for that! the post went on to say you could tune the CVT and change the ratios of the CVT to produce more power. Is that possible?

Looking forward to get more info on the possible turbo or supercharge options for the car... fingers crossed that we can do something without blowing up that car LOL.

That's something I was thinking of, what if you tuned the cvt sport mode gear ratios to an actual sporty gear ratio so you have more torque at low RPMs. Then maybe the tune can work better with an intake and exhaust.

I currently have the 2zrfe turbo kit on my 2011 toyota corolla and i have the 4 speed auto transmission. Now unlike the manual, the auto has aftermarket upgrades (just look up u341e transmission upgrades on google). The company level 10 has an upgraded torque converter, valve body, and clutch packs for the this specific tranny on the 2009-2013 corolla. Im running 10 lbs of boost from a gt2560r turbo into my 2zr-fe with no internal upgrades, just a transmission cooler. From my experience, the transmission still holds but slips a little bit. Expected from an econobox tranny.

nice! Pics please? :D

very nice! any idea how much power it puts out? And how hard was the install? Any problems with it? I would love to turbo or supercharge my 2014 corolla, but it's my daily driver so I can't be without a car for too long haha. I'm also very concerned about the CVT transmission. No idea what it can handle.

Okay lol after watching a ton of your IG vids, I can see that it caused you quite some problems. Of course that's the fun of it, but as my daily driver I can't afford to have too much down time. Would you recommend turboing the car or no? haha

Ok so i just woke up. Mt car makes around 240 whp 230 wtq and it is really fun. I do recommend but i do agree with your worries in that the cvt sounds like it would shatter like glass. The one thing i think about is a transmission cooler but im not sure if it would fit. I dont know too much about the technical terms but i do know this, the transmission cooler is pretty much a rest stop for the fuild in your tranny. To explain it further, the fluid is rerouted into the cooler and back into the tranny, cauing it to be air-cooled. So if your tranny can accept a cooler, i would turbo it. Alot of people have told me to trade in the car for a manual or do a manual swap, but in reality, my 4 speed auto has held up and there are aftermarket parts for it (u341e is the transmission code). I do not have the cvt but all i can say is look up other upgraded cars with cvt trannys, even though its not toyota, it can ease your worries because it will give you a baseline.

See I'm just wondering if you'd be better off just doing a full engine swap at this point. I love the look on my 14 S and gas mileage isn't a big deal to me, I've given a lot of thought about seeing if it's even remotely possible to go to a bigger I4 or just go straight to a V6

ZeCorolla

I Love Corolla's!
wow! thats really impressive! haha. Yeah I don't think im going to do anything until we get some more information about what the CVT can take.
There was that CVT Corolla that was turboed and on bags. The company that turboed it said the CVT seemed to take 5 psi of boost okay without any problems.

I'm a service advisor at a Toyota dealership in MS. I have a 16 Corolla with a CVT and have a great tech that could easily a turbo kit to my car, however, I am also scared of destroying the cvt. I do know it does have a metal band in it, not a rubber one, but who knows how much it can really
handle. Maybe 8psi or so?

it can handle up to 15 psi and 8 psi is the safest bet to get a ton of power

Can you convert our 1.8 to E85 and gain like 50HP? Are our engines compatible with this conversion? I know e85 is hard to get in some locations and mpg isn't great but you gain HP. Thoughts?

Hey guys, I'm new to this forums. I have a 2016 Corolla Le. I plan on putting a Turbokits t28 turbo on her and plan on boosting to 6.5 psi for testing waters. Plus she is paid off and warranty already expired and ready to have some fun with her. I plan on posting pictures thru my build. (I'm not sure anyone else has done this yet.) Do ya'll know where if there is any upgrade parts for the auto cvt for my car?

Welcome to the forum!
I think I speak for everyone here in saying that if you did that with a good writeup and pictures and videos and all of that, we'd all be VERY thankful LOL. Many of us, including myself have the CVT trans and would love to turbo our cars, we're just afraid of it blowing up. Myself for example, this corolla is my daily driver, so I absolutely couldn't be without it for more than a few days. If I blew my trans due to the added power, I'd be absolutely screwed. I think a few people have turbo'ed their corollas but nobody has ever really come back and given us info about it. I'm sure the rest of the car would be fine with a low amount of boost like you mentioned, but I don't know about the CVT. I feel like I'm killing the thing when I floor it without any boost.

Thanks, the only concern would be if I turbo the car.. Would my car be able to make it a couple hundred mile to my tuner shop. So, I can get my car it's final tune. Thats my fear it will mess something up.

The turbo kit from Turbokits comes with a base tune that is very close to the final tune. You can easily drive the car without even being on boost. It's even quicker when there is no boost compared to stock as the turbo creates more pressure in the manifold even though it's not positive pressure. Even the CVT will be okay with the turbo. You don't have to put your foot to the floor to enjoy the extra power. I'm amazed at how much faster my 09 Corolla is even at partial throttle with the turbo spinning.

What kind of power are you making and do you have any idea what kind of 0-60 times you're getting? The stock car is something like 9.5 seconds lol. Also have you done anything else to the engine besides turbo and tune?

I have the Turbokits Corolla turbo kit on my 2009 Corolla S. I have it running 8.6 PSI max to keep reliability high and the results have blown me away. For all of you that are worried about the CVT transmission just be a little gentle off the line. Don't go around drag racing it and you will be fine. I don't drive mine like I stole it but I do have fun rolling on the power and surprising a lot of people. I had a guy in our local Toyota club wonder what was going on when I was pulling away from him fast going up a steep hill in his 2016 FR-S with headers, exhaust, intake and a tuned chip for his mods. He was wondering why he couldn't catch up with a Corolla! :)

You have to spend a little money for the fun. The Turbokits turbo kit is amazing quality and well put together. A very good deal for the $3k it sells for. $$ per HP it's the best deal by far. My 2009 Corolla S is producing 230HP at the crank and 195HP at the wheels. The tuner said he could turn up the power any time I wanted but I'm trilled with the results.
