    MPG

I have always gotten better than average mpg for any given make & model of car that I have driven over the last 9 years. I think much of it has to do with where I live as it is very flat, not much in the way of city traffic, and I drive mostly highway. I notice a big difference in mpg when I...

    MPG

I don't top off the tank... When it clicks and the gas stops flowing, it is done! I record the gallons to the tenth and the mileage and get on with the day. Now, I add the info to the Fuelly web site for tracking, too.

    MPG

I've been getting a little over 42mpg since I brought my 2015 LE Eco home. I have almost 7,000 miles since the end of June - I drive a lot! So many factors do come into play. I am lucky in that about 80% of my driving is highway and that I live in a very flat area, so I don't have to take a...

    Regular or Premium?

Just one of the reasons the twin turbo S-80 is no longer in my garage! It was a big expense to maintain and to drive. Lovely car, don't get me wrong; but I just couldn't afford to keep it and drive it 25,000 miles a year... I am much happier with the Corolla in terms of overall cost of ownership.

VIDEO - K&N Air Filter - Rip Off?

I had a K&N on my last car, and I agree, it was a hassle. I spent $60 for the filter plus another $15 for the cleaning kit... I did not see a difference in power or fuel economy... so I WILL NOT be buying a K&N for my Corolla!

    MPG

3,000 miles since last December? Clearly, the majority of your driving must be short, city or town based driving with plenty of stop & go driving involved. I am also guessing a fair amount of time with the engine idling and the car not moving at all.... it's the only way I can see such...

    Regular or Premium?

I agree with Matthew. Anything above the manufacturer's recommendation is just wasting money. The Corolla was purposefully engineered and designed to be economical to operate, so being able to run it on 87 octane was factored into the vehicle's design. While running on 89 octane or higher...

    385 miles on tank @80

At 80, 385 doesnt seem too bad. I typically keep the speed at about 65 and average about 42mpg per tank, with the local driving factored into the average. After 70, there seems to be a significant reduction in fuel economy.

    Car Wouldn't Start

Was the transmission fully in Park? That's happened to me before where the gear shifter was just slightly out somehow and the car would not start. Never on the Corolla, this happened to me in an older Buick many years ago.

    You Went How Fast?!

I've gone about 80 in my new Corolla, and that's it for me in that car. Great commuter car and gets wonderful mileage, but at it's core, the little Toyota is not a performance car and doesn't pretend to be one..... I've owned lots of cars in my 30 years of driving and none compare to the...

Why did you choose your Corolla over the Civic?

I owned a 2001 Civic EX when it was new. I drove it over 100,000 trouble-free miles. It was one of the best cars I ever owned. I went with the Corolla this time as it has more rear legroom, which I need with 2 growing kids in the house, as well as the 42mpg from the Eco model that I got. I...

    Corolla LE ECO

Just came back from a trip that covered 700 miles in 4 days. Peak mileage was during a 243 mile haul through southern NY, through NJ and into DE. Averaged 46mpg at a steady 64 with AC on. Mostly flat ground.. I love this car!

    Coin Storage?

True, although not every place that I go have card readers, so carrying a little change comes in handy in those instances. Guess I am a bit old school in that sense, I still use physical currency....

Hi Everyone, loving my new 2015 Corolla

Welcome! This is my 3rd Toyota (4th if I count my wife's old 4-Runner that she used to have). The Toyota line is great, reliable, comfortable and affordable. We've had a 2000 4-Runner, a 2009 Yaris, a 2010 Camry, and now a 2015 Corolla. The Corolla is the best of them all, in my opinion, as...

    Coin Storage?

I use a Zip lock sandwich bag in the center console for my change. I also store my sunglasses in the center console, too....along with my GPS unit and some tissues. I find there to be plenty of storage for my stuff.

    2015 Corolla - Towing a Small Trailer

Save a few bucks and buy a used F-150 or Tundra to do your towing and hauling. The cost of a replacement transmission would be enough to pay for an old Ford....

    Which Corolla should I buy?

I am leasing a 2015 LE Eco base. In my humble opinion, this is the perfect vehicle. I've had it for almost 5 weeks, and I have driven over 2,300 miles already! Averaging just a click over 43mpg so far! As for fit, I am 6' tall and weigh 190lbs. I fit in the car very comfortably. I gave...
