OP, based on the roads in my area, i would go with SRI or exhaust. Your roads may not have as much construction going on. I also like the fact that now since I've removed the plastic fins from under the front bumper, i have no fear of parking front first.

I just installed a K&N panel filter. I have been a supporter/user since the mid 90s, and although anecdotal, never once suffered a single issue. I know they do not filter as well as paper, but nor do they filter as poorly as the internet-hawks claim. My reason has nothing to do with power...

I almost sprung for this intake too. So far, I'm happy with just the wheels and a K&N panel filter..."so far". If i did spring for one though, it would be the HP short ram. I'm just afraid of droning. Please let us know if this is an ussue.

30hp? My opinion: You will have to go the forced induction route. Very expensive, warranty voiding, reliability killing, and you'll still get smoked by that Fiesta ST, Veloster Turbo, Sentra Turbo, Elantra Sport, and new Civic 1.5T etc. next to you at the red light.

I too would prefer GTS, but having that hyphen in GT-i makes all the difference as well. It's really just a pet peeve. The AE92 is holy grail material for enthusiasts. I'd hope this new sporty variant is on par.

Nice find OP...and interesting. The use of the GTI moniker is a little cheesy IMO. I know other Makes have used it in Europe, like Peugeot etc. But "Corolla GTI" doesn't do it for me. Maybe it'll grow on me.

fireblade929, sorry to hear of your trouble. That doesn't sound like pre-detonation (ping or knock) to me. A car 'knocks' under light load and it typically goes away with a rise in rpm. Your knock sounds like a mechanical, not fuel derived issue.

I'd hardly label Mobil1, Pennzoil Platinum, Castrol Edge or various others... "just OK". Not that Amsoil isn't great oil either.

Get a Used Oil Analysis done. You may have piston ring issue where too much fuel is getting past the rings (blowby). You can do a preliminary novice test by smelling the dipstick for trace fuel as well. Either way, it would take lots of blowby to effect mpg. Also check the air filter/filter...
