    Nice Meeting Everyone!

Congrats and enjoy! That sounds like a nice step-up from a 'Rolla! :D Kevin

Whoosh Sound When First Stepping On Gas

If you're still running the stock intake then that shouldn't happen as there is an expansion chamber (of sorts, you can see it either built-into or hanging-off the air intake tube) which (essentially) keeps air in reserve until you need it (like when going wide-open throttle). You might want...

    CEL P0420; Steps for Diagnosis

I'm glad it worked-out! And thanks for updating the thread, that will definitely help others who may stumble across this thread in a Google search. Kevin

    Fuel Gauge Issue

Sounds like you've got a bad gauge, especially since when you removed power from it (pulling the connector) the gauge didn't move. You should be able to find a replacement cluster at a junk yard or on-line pretty easily. There is a chance though that the sender in the tank is not working. I...

    CEL P0420; Steps for Diagnosis

If the Check Engine light has stayed-off for the past two weeks I'd say you're in the clear. Sometimes a code can still be in there without illuminating the light but it's not likely. 1) It's not a bad idea, probably over-kill though. I think it's listed as recommended maintenance in the book...

    You Went How Fast?!

I use cruise control if I'm on an open highway for a long stretch, I rarely use it around town. My problem is that my daily driver for work doesn't have cruise control so I get used to not having it so then I forget to use it when I'm driving something which does  Kevin

1.8 Exclusive CVT - Idle RPM Question

Could also be related to emissions requirements (or lack thereof) in other countries. Kevin

    You Went How Fast?!

Mine too, she's definitly the speed-demon in the family. When I met her she drove a '00 Mustang GT. It got wrecked (not a bad thing, it was a huge pain to work on) and she ended-up in an '03 Corolla. She hates it, her kid loves it. She never hesitates to remind her that there will be another...

    You Went How Fast?!

Wow, seems like we have some real speed demons here! I'm primarily a truck guy but I've hit 100 in three of my trucks at various times. Stupidest was about 10 years ago when I hit 100 in a 4Runner, while flat-towing my Manx 'Buggy  Scariest was when I touched 100 in my lifted...

    You Went How Fast?!

115 MPH Governor? But the speedo says it can go 150 :D One of my close friends (who is not a fan of my Corolla) looked at the Speedo once and told me "If you can get this thing to a 140 I'll re-name my kid Kevin". Somehow I don't think her daughter has anything to worry about  Kevin

    You Went How Fast?!

Seems to be slow on the site today so how about a top-speed thread  I'm generally a pretty conservative driver so I'll set the bar low at 80. Kevin

    2001 Corolla Hard Starting

Obvious question I know but are the plugs gapped correctly? Kevin

    2001 Corolla Hard Starting

If the plugs and coils check-out I would have the fuel pressure checked to make sure the fuel system is working properly. Do these cars have a 'Cold Start Injector?' Kevin

2010 Corolla - Front and Rear Placement for Hydraulic Jack

If you're doing work on it which requires removing a wheel or wheels (such as a brake job) place the wheels flat on the ground under the car when you remove them. The portion of my driveway where I do most of my work is level and I'm pretty good at placing Jack Stands but when I have the wheels...

    2001 Corolla Hard Starting

First things first, are you getting a 'Check Engine' light? If so do you know what code is being stored? Has any work been done on the car recently? Total shot-in-the-dark here but you may want to the check the air intake tube (large tube which runs between your air filter housing and the...

I'm not sure you can put seat covers on these cars because of the in-seat airbags. Kevin

    Starter Sometimes Grinds

So last night I had the chance to drive my Corolla and tried it. Mine's bone-stock (no remote starter) and sure enough it has auto-start. Funny because on my F-450 the factory auto-start annoys me to no end. On the Corolla, not so much, although I start the F-450 differently than I do the...

    Identifying Component On Steering Column

Makes sense, from the diagram I couldn't tell the size or where it was in relation to the steering rack. Guess I'm still not used to electric power steering systems, my Corolla is my first  Kevin

2010 Corolla - Antenna Cable Question

DK, I agree, solder is preferable to crimping (I do lots of both in real life) I just wasn't sure if it's a coax cable or not. Guess I'll find-out when I cut it out of the connector in the trunk :) I'm hoping this works, seems kind of dumb to me to have something stuck to the roof of my car...
