Spontaneous Window Crack, 17 Corolla, no prior chips or nicks. Anyone else?

Precisely what I've got - except it's not the sciatic nerve, so the pain runs down the side and front of my leg, rather than the back of the leg. But it's the same deal, something (in my case a herniated disk) impinging on a nerve. I'm improvising with some foam, a sort of wedge to make the...

So for the front, you think only the STB had any effect, do I understand this right?

So does the TRD Strut Tower Brace interfere with access to the brake reservoir cap? It sort of looks to me like you'd have to pull the STB or the cowl to get at it. Also, would the STB make the ride rougher? Right now my back can't tolerate much bumpiness at all.

Just as a follow-up: is doing just this mod in any way bad for the car without doing the other mods as well?

So, have you done other add-ons that would also stiffen the chassis? Do you still think this one is the one to do for this particular issue? Or am I just clutching at straws here?

Spontaneous Window Crack, 17 Corolla, no prior chips or nicks. Anyone else?

@SuperchargedMR2, I appreciate the input. However, my back can't handle any bending and reaching, and I'm very clumsy and spacey. My mechanic gave me a low estimate. QUESTION: Is having this installed going to cause me any grief if I need stuff fixed under warranty? I know this was...

Spontaneous Window Crack, 17 Corolla, no prior chips or nicks. Anyone else?

Latest for service guy - they will *not* install the TRD Front Strut Brace (PTR02-12080 on my 2018 LE. I'm not a DIY sort of guy. There is a local independent mechanic I trust a lot, I guess I'll run it by him. One other concern - if I have this done, this will it affect warranty support...

Spontaneous Window Crack, 17 Corolla, no prior chips or nicks. Anyone else?

And googling brings me right back to this forum: https://www.toyotanation.com/forum/377-corolla-11th-gen-2014-scion-im-2016/1399457-corolla-hatchback-tips.html#post11728601 Which won't necessarily help me convince the parts guy.....

Spontaneous Window Crack, 17 Corolla, no prior chips or nicks. Anyone else?

So I asked one of the local Toyota dealers (the one closest to me) for a quote. It was $200 for the part (TRD Front Strut Brace (PTR02-12080)) and $130 for installation. They have now come back to me, saying this: "My parts department is telling me that this part number is only offered for...

Most of us Probably have a "Recall" (CVT)

This would be consistent with the updates that are still going on in Canada. It still leaves the suspension in United States as a mystery. Oh well.

CVT transmission: "braking" and "maximum braking"

I was having a flashback, thinking that the higher RPMs would suck more fuel into the engine. Like I'm trapped in the 1970s. :( Though I'm not sure that it worked that way even then. I'd have thought that anything that increased the RPM would increase wear on the engine. I'll be driving into...

CVT transmission: "braking" and "maximum braking"

So it sounds like it's just as good to just floor the accelerator when merging onto the faster expressway. This sounds useful. I have a lot of "slow and go" or stop and go. Which is better for stop and go or slow and go - engine braking or brake-braking? Certainly it's easier to not be...

Most of us Probably have a "Recall" (CVT)

In the sentence prior to the one you quoted, I said "My guess is...". I don't know affirmatively - but it is a theory that explains at least some of the facts Who says the cause hasn't been identified? It just hasn't been disclosed - maybe. The part about Canada - that part is hard to...

Which app do you use? There seem to be a lot of choices in Android. "Recommended APP: IOBD2 (search and download it from Apple store and Google Play Store)" doesn't really narrow it down.
