Most of us Probably have a "Recall" (CVT)

I think we can all agree with that.

Most of us Probably have a "Recall" (CVT)

A little further examination shows that my Corolla - the one I care most about - was made in April of 2018. So, theoretically, out of the window of bad production. Except: does the lack of inclusion of 2018 model year really reflect that 2018s are free of the problem - or did Toyota just not...

Most of us Probably have a "Recall" (CVT)

The Corolla CVT issue is Toyota's JOD (or possibly J0D - in some fonts, who knows?). That article - https://toyotatalk.com/corolla-defects/ - mentions no lawsuit, nor southern california dealer. The article citing a Southern California dealer (who does have a lawsuit) -...

Actually, those anonymous cases are from the NHTSA.gov website.

OK, this time with a useable format:

Most of us Probably have a "Recall" (CVT)

Well, that can be very bad: https://www.nhtsa.gov/vehicle/2017/TOYOTA/COROLLA/4%2520DR/FWD#complaints420 scroll down, click on VEHICAL SPEED CONTROL, look for " NHTSA ID Number: 11088606" I wouldn't want to be in that situation! Interestingly enough, the Toyota document gives an end date to...

Spontaneous Window Crack, 17 Corolla, no prior chips or nicks. Anyone else?

Thanks for the reminder. I do remember reading that from earlier in the thread, but I can;t be told too many times. Once again, though: SHOULDN'T THESE BE COVERED BY THE "Basic Warranty"? At least mine, I bought it new 35 days ago!

Most of us Probably have a "Recall" (CVT)

My guess is that there isn't a software fix possible. That the issue is hardware and therefore very very expensive to fix. So they will have to be forced to do so. And somebody is going to have to die on a busy Expressway before they get forced.

Most of us Probably have a "Recall" (CVT)

I've read that the part number for the CVT in the 2018 is the same as in the 2017.

Most of us Probably have a "Recall" (CVT)

It's odd that the 2018s were not included, yet have the same part number. I just bought a 2018 LE. :(

    Aftermarket driver seat

Do the SE seats have the seat tilt adjustment and the the power adjustments? Those would both help - the downward slope of the bucket seat doesn't help at all, and having to bend over to move the seat backwards and forwards is exactly the thing I'm not supposed to do. . Of course the next...

2018 Corolla LE: Avg MPG Display: 20.8 ???

So I got some highway driving on it and it's up to 26.something. This car is fated to do a lot of short trips, though.

Spontaneous Window Crack, 17 Corolla, no prior chips or nicks. Anyone else?

Well, I should have searched harder and gone ahead and had the STB installed! I have a hairline crack - it may be thinner than a hair - that looks to start some where in front of, to the left and above the driver, then curves over right in the direction of the bottom of the camera bracket. And...

I've got the same issue with my 2018 Corolla LE. Anybody knowing anything?

2018 Corolla LE: Avg MPG Display: 20.8 ???

I've got 157 miles on the odometer. 37 were highway, the rest was mostly short trips, or stop and go. Shouldn't this still be higher?

Spontaneous Window Crack, 17 Corolla, no prior chips or nicks. Anyone else?

Were you over 36,000 miles? I thought the factory warranty would cover something like this.

Ordering that will be fun. That page shows 3 pictures. The left-hand picture really looks like what's shown in your video. The other 2 are different from the left-hand one, and from each other, too! Amazon, and Sparks Parts, show the right one. Other sites are also confused...

Spontaneous Window Crack, 17 Corolla, no prior chips or nicks. Anyone else?

When I search, I'm having problems finding the current TRD front tower brace. Also, is this worth doing prior to expiration of the bumper-to-bumber warranty?

Thanks for the information on Safelite. However, I was asking about the "Universal" front tower strut braces.

CVT transmission: "braking" and "maximum braking"

So you can be going e.g. 75 and you'll shift from D to B? This is OK for the transmission? I guess it's just more inputs, rather than an actual shift - but it takes getting used to the thought. My prior car was a 2002 Chevy Prism (Corolla with chevy name tags). ETA: I went with a new 2018...
