2004 S Model Suspension

#1
I have a 2004 Corolla S with 125K and I'm wanting to replace my struts. I want to maintain the factory drivability (the S model seems to have a firmer ride and corners tighter than my 2002 Corolla LE) I plan to go with KYB - has any one replaced theirs and have a recommendation of what variant I need to buy to best replicate S model factory ride? Is there is a difference in struts between S and LE models from the factory?

I'm a fan of KYB-GR2 myself. Awesome struts.

Yes, I believe the S has different struts from the LE.

You'll need a spring compressor and a torque wrench (the torque wrench is important, don't guess on your suspension).

If you rent the spring compressor, check the condition of it BEFORE using it and return it for a different one if the threads have signs of wear. These things pack enough punch to put you in the hospital if they release under full tension and strike you in the chest.
