Corolla LE 2015 Steering Lock

I just leased a Corolla LE 2015.
Noticed that after turning the engine off and removing the key from the ignition, I cannot lock the steering wheel.
In my previous 2011 corolla the steering would lock.

Am I missing something or is this functionality not available?

It should be locking when you pull the key out. If not, take it back to the dealership.

I actually wondered about this too. When someone hit my Corolla and I got a rental 2013 while my 2011 S was being repaired, I noticed the steering could lock in that but mine won't. Is it supposed to?

It is supposed to. If you can turn the wheel more than 90° without it locking with the ignition off, something isn't right.

Well, I can't turn it 90° but in the rental, turning it even a bit would lock it and I could hear the click of the steering lock in engaging where as in mine, it won't let me turn the wheel as much but I can still move it a bit and it won't lock.

If it locks before a 90° turn, you're fine. There are only certain spots where the pawl will engage so the amount that you can move the wheel varies by how you parked that particular day.
