CVT 7-speed sport sequential shiftmatic mode issue

Hi all. Today I bought my 2016 Toyota Corolla sx hatchback. While trying out sequential shiftmatic mode I found out that while I can downshift, I cannot up shift when i press the paddle or use the stick shifter. Has anyone else encountered this issue before, any help would be appreciated.

It's either a problem or the car judge the moment inappropriate. It's not really a manual mode, rather a shift range made available electronically.

it does it electronically so it could be a flaw in judgment of speed iv never had this issue with mine so I would recommend taking it back to the dealership for inspection
