New airbag related recall - including Corolla 2010-2019

Not much details as of now, but not necessarily. The module is just under the console, behind a removable panel and probably doesn't need to be remove, since the recall mention installing an "electric noise" filter between it and the wire harness, so possibly just "plug and play". That's...

New airbag related recall - including Corolla 2010-2019

Actually a whole bunch of brands have been/will be affected : FCA, Honda, Hyundai, Kia, Mitsubishi and Toyota. Since ZF first deny the problem then that the same part was provided to other manufacturers than FCA, I smell of Takata... For Corolla in Canada, they only mention 2011-2014 MY. The...

New airbag related recall - including Corolla 2010-2019

"The subject vehicles may be equipped with an airbag control module for the supplemental restraint system (SRS ECU) manufactured by ZF-TRW. The ECU receives signals from crash sensors and deploys the airbags and seat belt pretensioners in accordance with design specifications. This ECU...

toyota corolla what do you think

People wrongly assume that “Made in Japan” is somewhat magical… Comes from the ‘70s, when US manufacturers were in disrepair while Japanese manufacturers had their act together. But it had to do with engineering and market reading, not the simple fact of being made in Japan. In recent years, new...

CVT 7-speed sport sequential shiftmatic mode issue

It's either a problem or the car judge the moment inappropriate. It's not really a manual mode, rather a shift range made available electronically.

    cvt concern

"Online" is quite vast and generic. What are your sources ? Cases on forums are just that : cases on forums. With millions of units in circulation, it would require an awful lot of cases on forums to be relevant. Organizations that do compile significant data (Consumer Reports, TrueDelta, JD...

Touch Screen Display Stuck in Update Loop

I doubt the car computer itself is fried, otherwise the whole vehicle wouldn't work. If it has navigation, some say that a new, updated SD card map solve the problem (but a new card isn't free unless they let you test it). Or you may try this trick, apparently also working for some.

2019 Corolla Hatchback SE wheels n' tires upgrade???

Toyota themselves uses both size on basically the same car (SE/XSE). There should be no issue, including for warranty.

    2014 Corolla S CVT Problems

Close to 70K now (after 6 years, so not much every year) and still no issue with the car. How do you know your fluid is dark ? Don't extract too much as the exact level is important ! ;)

2020 Toyota corolla Transmission closed case video

Yes, no dipstick transmission (so called "sealed", despite still having a drain and fill plugs) have been the norm for years now.

another costly corolla item to worry about

Not sure that would give owner the same type of worrying than CVT (although actual statistics should take care of those). But yes, replacing the vacuum pump for the brake booster is another addition to the cost of ownership, just as timing belts for others. It’s not just a Corolla/Valvematic...

    change cvt tranny fluid?

I would strongly advise against driving 50 miles (or any distance) between fillings. You briefly shift at idle to mix new/old fluid. Never take the road before adjusting the fluid level with the car in fluid temp detection mode. CVT are simple but with tight tolerances: driving even a short...

    2017 corolla oil change interval

Service reminder is merely programmed to show every 5K, since schedule maintenance has something every 5k like tire rotation or more or less important "inspections" but not necessarily oil change. Synthetic 0W20 is the required one and may easily last 10K. "May", because it has all to do with...

    2016 Corolla CVT Transmission Failure

What’s the exact diagnostic to justify replacement with no repair option? Replacements aren’t that common in the first place on forums and you’d have to gather specific and common info for a class action. Not an easy task. $8K is way over the top anyway. A used unit can be find for less than $1K...

    change cvt tranny fluid?

10K sounds a bit overkill even for the good old days. Can’t hurt anyway (except wallet and environment). Just don’t forget that yes, volume/temperature is crucial, as those fluids not only lubricate parts but play an active role in friction/pressure. Indeed, there is no “lifetime fluid”. Not...

2017 - Any way to disable permanently automatic high beams?

Some models have a dedicated on/off for auto high beams on the lower left of the dashboard (near mirror adjustment and so on). I don't think the 2017 has it. If not then your only choice is full auto (including high beams) or full manual.
