Got my first Toyota - 2018 Corolla, LE version

In case it didn't come with the car : Warranty and maintenance guide (Toyota site) https://www.toyota.com/t3Portal/document/omms-s/T-MMS-18Corolla/pdf/T-MMS-18Corolla.pdf Actually, you'll find many infos on https://www.toyota.com/owners/

I want to increase my New Corolla 1.8 HP...

Oh! Then it’s somewhat like the GM-Fiat units: some engineer skipped the metallurgy lesson when at school (or the hydraulic pressure one) ! I wonder if those Nissan-Jatco also give up at relatively low mileage and if it’s a widespreaded problem or specific to a model/year/batch. Perhaps it...

How often do you S-Owners use Sport mode?

Same here ! CVTi-S (intelligent shift) for the transmission. More a description then a name but Toyota itself label the “gears”: “gears” (including the inverted commas) or shift points.

    Transmission CNC Help needed

That would be good advice with any kind of transmission ! :D

I want to increase my New Corolla 1.8 HP...

Wow! How many replacements, and at what mileage, is actually “about everyday”. CVT generally don’t sustain damage themselves (except if they are GM-Fiat with poor metal quality not up to the intern pressure) but from firmware mismanagement (hence the Corolla’s service campaign). In which case...

    Scotty Kilmer on Corolla CVT

Mr Kilmer now publishes 1 video a day, sometimes two (albeit often just answering questions) so I guess it doesn’t leave much time for research. Yes, the new hatchback is more cramped back there. The new sedan will be better, but still way behind the current one. I guess it has to do with the...

    Better performance?

I wouldn’t play with those “ratios” (whether they are confirmed or not) since Toyota’s engineers deemed, based on experience, the original ones weren’t optimal for the CVT sake. Anyway, at least on forums, most comments I’ve read reported no perceived change (my case) in performance and some a...

    Scotty Kilmer on Corolla CVT

I’m usually a fan of him also and, who knows, he might be right in the long term but here he is mixing so many different things that it’s impossible to sustain a general conclusion from this video. K313 service campaign is a firmware update to reduce wear occurrences under some conditions on...

    Humming sound

Is this what you are talking about (from the owner manual) : "Approximately five hours after the engine is turned off, you may hear sound coming from under the vehicle for several minutes. This is the sound of a fuel evaporation leakage check and, it does not indicate a malfunction."

Greetings. Thinking about getting first Toyota

Yup! Spark=Jatco! Variants of this CVT are also used in a bunch of Nissan, Mitsubishi and Suzuki. They are not deemed as problematic... except in 2014 Spark as the first GM firmware wasn’t the best at managing it. It was corrected subsequently. This is why I see as positive a “service campaign”...

Greetings. Thinking about getting first Toyota

Maintenance per the manual is the same as any Toyota’s regular AT: check every 30K and act appropriately (with mandatory fluid change at 60K for “severe usage”). Quite vague, which lead to the urban legend of “lifetime fluid” – and Toyota getting smashed for it although in actuality nowhere is...

Greetings. Thinking about getting first Toyota

No. As I mentioned, those 3400 2019 Corolla hatchback are officially a «recall» and designated as such by both Toyota and the NHTSA. Those are specific units produced in September 2018 at Tsutsumi (Japan) plant with a defective part. It’s a production mishap, not a design problem. The «service...

Greetings. Thinking about getting first Toyota

I was in the same boat as you after decades of buying American. My current Corolla is my first “foreign” (although build here) car… and I’d have never even dream that a car could be that trouble free. 5 years, 60K with just oil changes (and 2 firmware updates, more on that lower). Maybe just...

2014 Corolla S Radio Reboot Problem

Indeed that is one if not the most reported issue on forums. Not only for Corolla but all Toyota models with Entune 2.0 (and from the look of it, specifically premium versions with apps/nav). “Most reported” doesn’t necessarily mean “all units” – you are one of the unlucky – and you could never...

    Corolla questions

Yes, with the new generation coming in, very good deals might be possible on the current ones with the advantages of new, warranty and safe history !

    Corolla questions

A bunch of 2017 40K might, indeed, hint of rental unit. Anyway, just get the specific coveted unit history and inspected. Corolla is a good choice : maybe a little bland, not excelling at anything but at the same time OK at everything, including value, reliability (statistically, but that...

Radio USB function flakey on 2019 Corolla HB

The fact that it sometimes shows the folders but not always seems to indicate a malfunction. Only possible situation, from my experience with my current system (11th generation, different system from 2019 HB, is that you have to give a couple of minutes upon start for the head unit to make an...

    RECALL ON 2014-2017 Corolla CVTs!!!

That’s how it is for most, as most CVTs aren’t actually affected by the “premature wear” potentially induced, in some circumstances, by the original firmware. Some do notice a slight improvement, whether it’s only perception or the new firmware being more adapted to the current state of their...

    RECALL ON 2014-2017 Corolla CVTs!!!

Theoretically yes but in actuality, probably not... You'd have to prove that the problem has no other cause than the original firmware AND that Toyota peformed the update without assessing the correct condition of the CVT at that moment (which they do, but Toyota, not you, has this data...)
