Sounds like maybe it's time to pursue the Lemon Law option and get a complete refund for the car.

bdzimmermann - Any updates on the oil consumption issue? Since you made your post I have done some research on this issue and it apparently affects all 1998-2002 Corolla 1.8 litre engines. The only fix is to have Toyota updated design pistons and rings installed. Very expensive.
