I changed the speakers and added an amplifier, all pioneer. also added an mtx sub and amp combo. In order to interface with the head unit, I used the Audio Control LC2i. still want to add an equalizer at some point :)

great job! I'm actually doing this project myself next weekend. I'm using a AudioControl LC2i converter. its a powered converter (not passive) and can correct for any bass losses in the system. I installed some rear deck speakers a few days ago and I'm loving them, Pioneer TS-A6985R 4-way speakers.

the power for the amp comes from the car battery. the amp has speaker signal inputs. these inputs barely take any power. the amp amplifies the signal using the 12VDC. it must have a better connection to older androids since the software has been up for a long time. the Galaxy S5 with Android Kit Kat does not work with the corolla. calls work fine but text messaging attemps to load and then freezes up.
