Touche - although usually they keep arbitration cases pretty quiet - but a court fight threat will often get them to settle with you.

Technically you are correct, but it comes down to interpretation also. If you wet sand and buff the car, you are going to remove SOME (hopefully not much) of the paint. If the paint later fails, Toyota is going to claim it failed because you wet sanded it and you are going to claim it failed...

I think you didn't asked the question the right way ... If you ask "Joe's body shop said they could wet sand it and buff it and that will take care of the orange peel" - they will give them the response above. Tell them - "This car is substandard, and I want it fixed or I will see you in...

That should be a possible option for your car as well. Of course, you would want to make Toyota pay to have this done, and you are removing paint when you do this, so you would want a written guarantee that the finish and rust perforation warranty wouldn't be affected.

Of course it's not SUPPOSED to do that, but it's a question of degree. Paint ANYTHING with a spray bomb (can). If you get the can too close, the paint runs and drips. If you get the can perfect, you get a mirror finish. If you get the can too far away (I'm pretty sure) you get orange peel...

This will come across as mean-spirited and it isn't meant to be, but it might help others, might even help you somehow also. As I understand it, you wanted an S Plus but didn't qualify for it so they made you get an LE Base. For me locally on TrueCar, an LE Base is 15,388 and an S Base is...

Interior Illumunation Cutomization and Turn Signal Duration

True and the owner's manual says you don't, but it is incorrect. It likely takes longer to find a dealer that understands what you are asking for than it actually does for the dealer to change the settings.

Agreed - if the manufacturer is still selling cars with defective paint, they are VERY unlikely to spend the $$$ to improve the paint process and QC.

I get your point - but it's not the greatest example. You can't look at an ignition switch and see if it is going to fail and shut the engine off at 80 MPH. You SHOULD be able to look at paint on a new car and see if it has orange peel or not. So in this case - it really does come down to how...

    2014 Corolla - Orange Peel

What eventually, you will want to bring up with Toyota is essentially, you took a double-hit here ... I'm in a different situation a bit than you are. Personally - I like the LE better than the S. If I wanted the S, I really don't care too much about rear disc brakes, so I would likely look...

    2014 Corolla - Orange Peel

No - not really. I'm not trying to get in a urinary olympics here, but the first picture in the showroom (the 2013) looked a bit textured to me (likely either the interior lights or my computer screen or the resolution of the photo - I'm not saying the car had bad paint - but I can't tell from...

    Stereo Upgrade

I don't think that will happen. It's odd, but most new car manufacturer's don't include the BT buttons on the remote control. The Steering wheel control interface is really set up to mimic the remote control functions, so if the deck doesn't have BT on the remote controls, it probably isn't...

From the pictures posted at the start of the thread, I think NewCorollaOwner has a case and hope something gets resolved. You can't really go by the pictures Scott posted off the Internet, though. I can't tell you how many times when we were used car shopping for my son, I would find cars that...

    LED Turn Signal Issue

I've never dealt with load resistors. I have seen other threads where the turn signal ones were zip-tied to the wire harness with no issues. Not saying it's a good idea, but ...

    LE and S Plus

You can add Toyota fog lights to an LE for $250 or less, but you can't do much about the bumper, interior, or instrument cluster or brakes cost-effectively. Nobody (or very few) on the forum will be able to compare an LE with aftermarket 18-inch wheels and tires to an S with OEM 17-inch...

    2014 Corolla - Orange Peel

Truecar locally for me shows a $4500 discount for the S Plus with 6MT. What that is supposed to mean legally is that if you go to a TrueCar dealer and they have that car on the lot you have to get it for that price (or better). Now, if they don't have exactly the car you want and have to get...

    LED Turn Signal Issue

The load resistors probably don't get that hot for turn signals. I would need them for the brake lights for the Ford Focus (disables cruise control) and those would want to be mounted to metal.

And your point? There is that much markup. Usually you can walk in and get the TrueCar price or better if you negotiate. You can ALWAYS get it from the TrueCar dealer - IF they have that particular equipped model on the lot (and yes, you have to negotiate dealer fees etc. also).
