    Miles per Tank

There are 3 tire sizes depending on models. Whether on steel or alloy depends on option group. 195-65-15 steel: L / LE Eco 205-55-16 steel: LE (and previous S) 205-55-16 alloy: LE Premium / LE Eco Premium / XLE 215-45-17 alloy: SE / XSE (and previous S Plus/Premium) Per EPA numbers, it’s -1...

    Miles per Tank

+/- 10 gallons for +/- 400 miles 50/50 (LE Eco 2014). The LE Eco has the same 15" tires as the L. Those smaller wheels help both comfort and MPG even vs LE Eco Premium (16" wheels).

Most of us Probably have a "Recall" (CVT)

Sound just like mine from the beginning :D

Most of us Probably have a "Recall" (CVT)

... if it can be established that the problem is related to the trouble in the service campaign bulletin ;)

Most of us Probably have a "Recall" (CVT)

Thanks lar.smith. I had not access to it (no recall or service campaign for my VIN). So there it is, apparently without no date limit, what is sometime refer as "secret warranty". What remain to see is how "secret" this will be, meaning if they will send a letter to affected owners or just count...

Most of us Probably have a "Recall" (CVT)

They certainly should. Just as for those first Jatco-Nissan units that remain fragile after a bad firmware. What bugs me is that those trans weren’t new when introduced to NA. Maybe it has to do with multiplication of logic for NA market (LE/LE Eco/S/S with paddles). Anyway, such a service...

Most of us Probably have a "Recall" (CVT)

Well anyway the difference doesn't really matter for us, customer. Which owner in is right mind would say "there is a potential problem and a free fix but I won't take care of it since it's not a proper recall"... For the company, though, a recall has to be made public (medias) and a...

Most of us Probably have a "Recall" (CVT)

Thanks for the info! Mine is clear. It might be related to the TSB someone reported here. If so I’m not sure about the “most of us”. Is the “recall” labeled as a service campaign ? Implications are slightly different : Recall: The car WILL have this issue. Act immediately (free of charge)...

    ECO vs Non ECO

Not that keen on all the technological details but basically, electric control of valves. Valvematic (vs VVT-i) allow continuous control of valve lift so the throttle valve remain open most of the time, reducing pumping loss. The compression ratio is also of 10.6/1 (vs 10.0/1).

    New Corolla (hatch) 2019 official

So it appears that the new Corolla hatch will be here at the same time as in Europe this time and quite similar, with "Dynamic-Force" 2.0l DI, "Dynamic-Shift" CVT or 6 iMT. http://pressroom.toyota.com/releases/hatch+back+all+new+2019+toyota+corolla+hatchback+wows+2018+nyias.htm

    Radio crashing

First step might be to try a reset (holding power button). Then maybe the battery trick ( http://www.corollaforum.com/threads/radio-rebooting.5727/#post-43513 ). Then good luck !

    Maintainence in these newer cars?

Actually, I'd say just go with the maintenance schedule. Using the car as a taxi service, just make sure you follow the "severe" usage category. You'll see that the manual then says 5K / 6 months intervals for oil change (not 10K) and check CVT fluid every 30K and replace every 60K (vs check...

    CVT worries

Well, you have read those pages. You’ve seen odd units with real problems (albeit sometimes not very well documented…) like for any mechanical device. You’ve also seen that’s what they are: odd cases as neither TrueDelta, Consumer Reports or JD Powers show a surge or trend in complaints. And...

    CVT Transmission Issues ??

Not sure about those machines but from your description, I assume it’s the case. Except that in a car RPM will vary (not to be confuse with the fact that a given needed RPM will be reached without gear steps – except the fake/useless electronic ones to satisfy traditional ears) and the belt is...

    CVT Transmission Issues ??

Not the same principle. A serpentine belt sits on the groove of a pulley. Friction pulls it and the belt movement pulls some other pulley. A CVT is rather a “push belt” type. The belt doesn’t sit on the groove but moves freely up and down on pulley’s side. Those pulleys are actually cones...

New CVT CVT for tne new Corolla ?

Personally, I haven't heard such a specific rumor. Just that there might be a BMW engine, a rumor probably based on the fact that exchange of engines between BMW and Toyota, including Corolla, are not unusual for the European market. 1.5T would be nice for a niche/image engine but in the...

New CVT CVT for tne new Corolla ?

I doubt it. Rather the little brother of the new 2.5 in Camry, which is good news as that's a performing and efficient engine. If there is a BMW engine, it will most likely be in a limited special version or even more likely on the European market where it's not unusual for BMW and Toyota to...
