Yeah, that would be a pain. The car has 3 exterior and 2 interior key detectors , plus the door handles, the trunk release button, and you have to remove the lock cylinder and cover it.

You definitely have a short somewhere. Get ahold of a wiring diagram and see if all of these fuses tie in to one wire somewhere.

Did you check the wires yet? It might not be a bad idea to resistance check the coils as well. There could be something happening there that causes a miss when cold but then when the coils warm up, they function properly.

If you were getting cycling voltage and the compressor clutch wasn't engaging, then the clutch is bad and needs to be replaced.

You want the tread depth gauge, because if you wait until you visibly can see a difference in wear, it is usually too late to have an even wearing tire at that point.

I switched to Toyota after massive problems with my 2003 Focus. My 2014 S Plus 6MT is my second one. I had a 2008 Matrix 5 speed that took 75,000 miles of my abuse and never gave me trouble. I was sold after that.

That sucks, but a heater core with that many miles is about typical. Both Mustangs I owned had 225,000 miles on them when the heater cores went.

If you search for threads that I have started in the 2014 forum, you oughta run into pictures of mine. Scott has a good point, the thermostat can actually be sticking open. It is rare but I have seen it happen.

I'm going to be as gentle as possible. You're not qualified to work on electrical and almost started a fire in the process. If you have dimmer switches that are burned up and now have wires melting, I would recommend taking the car to a technician and letting them fix the wiring.
