Another possibility is a bad tailight relay and the fried DRL module being coincidental, but the odds of that are low.

So ... you'll have to trace this wire (battery disconnected) until you find where the insulation rubbed at. That should be it based on your description and this wiring diagram. When you unplugged the DRL module, that may have moved the wiring enough to break the connection.

No, they're LED. The high beam area looks really small ... unless it is combined into the low beam? They look neat, but I would have to see how the beam pattern stacks up to the OEM ones. Personally, I'm waiting for taillights. I liked how the ones in my '08 Matrix look, dunno why Toyota went...

The high beam indicator flashing was why I thought switch initially ... if the DRL Module does control the turn and tail lights (which is kinda misleading) then it is possible it being fried is messing with everything.
